B, Chocolate contains phenylethylamine and anandamide. Phenylethylamine combines with dopamine in the brain to produce a mild anti-depressant effect and anandamide produces general feelings of calmness and just "feeling good". Makes perfect sense to me why you're hooked. :) Be well...

When I am anxious I usuallt stay away from food....as is I am a lazy eater..but since I have changed my medication (from lorazepam to klonopin) I feel like I have been gaining weight...I am not doing anything unusual...but my problem is that I have since become addicted to chocolate in any form or shape...it's terrible...Perhaps, you are eating to take your mind off of how you are feeling? Hope this helps! Take care, B

I do not suffer from the binge eating part but when I am anxious, I can not eat. I hate it because it makes me feel so much worse. Then I get nauseated from not eating but think that it is the beginning of a panic attack. Its hard sometimes to seperate moods, eating, sleeping from the anxiety. All of those are important to how we feel. I am sorry I do not have any advice but I know how you feel.

Hi, I periodically have panic attacks, and I was just wondering if anyone has linked their anxiety and panic problems to binge eating. I noticed that when I get anxious my appetite can be overwhelming, to the point where I can't feel full, no matter how much food I've eaten. This tends to only happen when I'm stressed or feeling anxious. My binging starts a horrible vicious cycle also, where I binge, feel depressed from binging, and then beome prone to having more panic attacks because I am depressed. It all seems to be interconnected. Does this happen to anyone else? Any advice or input would be much appreciated. -Cedar
